Quotes from members

I really enjoyed the way this training was held. Angela really knows a lot of things about class management – she was open to discussion and answered our questions. I would like to take part in more similar trainings. It would be useful if more community schools get involved in this type of training.

Good news for languages as Guardian champions British Academy initiatives

The Guardian newspaper is collaborating with the British Academy to champion language learning in UK schools and universities. Among other exciting plans to be revealed shortly, it has thrown its weight behind the British Academy Schools Language Awards – including a high profile member of the judging panel, which meets in September. There is still time to apply for an Award – the closing date is 19 July 2013. Here’s a reminder of the criteria:

· Cash awards of £4000 to fund projects aimed at getting more learners to take their languages to a higher level

· Open to mainstream and supplementary schools and colleges throughout the UK – and organisations which work with them to promote language learning

· The judges are looking for innovative and imaginative projects bringing new approaches to improving take up

· See web page for full details and how to apply http://www.britac.ac.uk/policy/basla2013.cfm

Please contact baslas@britac.ac.uk with any queries.

What Supplementary Schools tell about us

‘Chhaya and I thoroughly enjoyed the event, meeting the other supplementary schools and learning how to progress forward.
A HUGE BIG THANK YOU to Angela (senior mentor) who supported us through the journey and pushed us to excel, implement and produce the silver award. We feel greatly inspired to go for gold now. Thank you to Pravina (Bronze mentor) for all her help and support along the way. I look forward to preparation for the gold award next,
