Unfortunately MEITS have decided to cancel this event: After careful consideration, we have decided to cancel the event. This has been a difficult decision and will no doubt be disappointing news. The health and safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers is our most important priority, and we therefore feel that this is the most appropriate course of action at this time. I apologise for any inconvenience this late cancellation causes you, and thank you for your support with the project.
Please note that this event has been organised by MEITS (Multilingualism Empowering Individuals, Transforming Societies). We are promoting it because supplementary/complementary/mother tongue schools are a massive part of the multilingual reality of Great Britain. And because this would be a wonderful off-site visit for your pupils.
On Saturday 14th March (10am-4pm), MEITS is hosting a Celebration of multilingualism at The Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London. This will be a fun-filled and family-friendly day of events, which will include hands-on activities about the joy of language learning. Entry is free!
The entry is free , if you want to attend one of the language taster sessions go to the EVENTBRITE booking otherwise just turn up and enjoy.
More information on the MEITS website which will be updated regularly in the lead up to the event.
MEITS is a major interdisciplinary research project funded under the AHRC Open World Research Initiative. Linguistic competence in more than one language – being multilingual – sits at the heart of the study of modern languages and literatures, distinguishing it from cognate disciplines. Through six interlocking research strands we investigate how the insights gained from stepping outside a single language, culture and mode of thought are vital to individuals and societies.
