Start a Code Club at your supplementary school.
We have partnered with Raspberry Pi Foundation to bring you Code Club – a new FREE activity for your supplementary school! This is the latest addition to the outstanding support package available for NRCSE subscribers.
Code Club is a global network of educator and volunteer-led coding clubs for young people aged 9–13. Using Code Club’s free step-by-step projects, you can support young people at your school to make their own games, animations, and websites with code.
What will children learn?
Code Club’s projects introduce coding concepts one-by-one and let young people progressively build their knowledge in Scratch, HTML and CSS, and Python. Anyone can run a club – from coding experts, to total beginners – and many club leaders learn to code alongside their students.
Code Club’s projects are also translated into many different languages, meaning you can choose to run your sessions in a language other than English.
What does a typical Code Club look like?
Code Clubs are fun, relaxed spaces where young people can be creative with code. They are designed to be easy to run and flexible to suit your needs.
A typical Code Club:
● Runs for an hour a week outside of normal school time
● Is hosted by an educator, sometimes with the support of a volunteer
● Supports an average of 10 to 15 children to learn to code
● Requires an internet connection
● Runs with the existing hardware at your venue, for example Chromebooks, laptops,or tablets
