Good news for languages as Guardian champions British Academy initiatives
The Guardian newspaper is collaborating with the British Academy to champion language learning in UK schools and universities. Among other exciting plans to be revealed shortly, it has thrown its weight behind the British Academy Schools Language Awards – including a high profile member of the judging panel, which meets in September. There is still time to apply for an Award – the closing date is 19 July 2013. Here’s a reminder of the criteria:
· Cash awards of £4000 to fund projects aimed at getting more learners to take their languages to a higher level
· Open to mainstream and supplementary schools and colleges throughout the UK – and organisations which work with them to promote language learning
· The judges are looking for innovative and imaginative projects bringing new approaches to improving take up
