The aim of Young People’s Foundations (YPFs) is to support and build capacity in children and young people in order to bring different groups together in the name of developing partnership projects while sharing resources and good practice.
They currently exist in various London boroughs, including Barnet, Brent, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Young Harrow and Westminster. Manchester YPF has just launched too.
YPFs have four key strands to their work:
- Facilitating centralised fundraising based on a consortia approach in order to access funding from a variety of sources
- Providing a ‘Venue Bank’ for groups to share and access available sites to run their project
- Distributing a Small Grant fund to member organisations
- Organising sector-specific capacity building
