Speak to the future – the campaign for languages
We very much regret that OCR's CEO, Mark Dawe, has now confirmed his exam board's decision to withdraw Asset Languages qualifications from most of the languages currently available. This is a real blow to teaching in a wide range of less widely studied languages in the UK. The statement says: “Accreditation for Asset Language qualifications runs out at the end of December 2013. We can now confirm that we will redevelop Asset Language qualifications for first teaching from September 2013 in five languages only; French, German, Spanish, Italian and Mandarin, at Breakthrough (Entry Level), Preliminary (Level 1) and Intermediate (Level 2). Following our review, we can also confirm that we will not be redeveloping other Asset qualifications currently in the range. The last assessment window for candidates using these language qualifications is November 2013, which will be a re-sit opportunity for 2012 – 13 candidates only.”]]>
