The 5th cohort of supplementary school teachers to complete the Effective Teaching Skills for Supplementary Schools celebrated the successful completion of the course last week.
Fifty eight teachers have completed the course to-date and ten of them are now developing their skills further by studying ‘Teaching a Language in a Supplementary School’ – NRCSEs new course to develop the teaching techniques and resources of mother tongue and heritage language teachers in the community sector.
Their tutor, Irem Syed, who is Milton Keynes’ EMA Support Staff Advisor (Supplementary Schools & Faith Communities) will be presenting a paper on the council partnership with the supplementary education sector at the forthcoming Community in Education conference at LMU on 3rd July.
There are over 60 supplementary schools in Milton Keynes and a solid commitment from the local authority to work with communities to support them in helping their children to achieve their true potential in life. For further information about the work, visit the council’s website.
