Teaching a language in a supplementary school:
- is designed to follow on from Teaching Skills in Supplementary Schools and it is advised you complete that course first, unless you have qualified teacher status;
- concentrates specifically on language-teaching eg. Turkish, Arabic, Chinese, Bengali, Polish, etc. but also applies to those teaching English as an additional language;
- raises awareness of teachers’ own education, language-history and experiences of learning a language;
- improves knowledge of how to teach a language to children;
- gives practical help in devising listening, speaking, reading and writing objectives;
- helps in adapting and making teaching resources; and
- assists with creating a scheme of work or syllabus.
The course is offered at Level 2 and Level 3, worth six credits.
Cost: £320
This includes: student registration fee, seven x 4hr sessions, assessment and internal moderation, learner file and resources on a membory stick for each learner, refreshments.
