Remote Teaching and Digital Skills – Cohort 4

November 16, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Week 1 of our new online course supporting community teachers to engage with their pupils remotely

Includes guidance, best practice and lots of practical activities for teaching online and remotely

The course lasts 6 weeks and leads to a certificate from the National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education

Topics are as follows:

  1. Mainstream and supplementary schools – the education system
  2. Role of the teacher and evaluation
  3. Teaching methods and lesson planning
  4. Assessment and recording progress
  5. Learning environment

Each week you will do some preparation at home (watch videos, read texts, make notes about your own practice) meet up online for a zoom tutorial for the whole group and write a short assessment task which you upload to Google Classroom. Your tutor marks it and sends you comments using Google Classroom. You may well find it easiest to participate fully in this course if you have a dedicated gmail account for the course. You will have a week after the final tutorial to complete your written assessment tasks and, if necessary, have an individual tutorial.

Feedback from participants on the current cohort of the course:

‘thanks so much really enjoyed todays lesson appreciate it’

‘another really enjoyable class thank you to Pascale and everyone 🙂

‘Thank you all for sharing your skills and experiences working remotely, so inspiring. Thank You Akhita.’
