MiFamily programme
- Students with a migrant background may face challenges in achieving their true potential if the national language of the host country is not one they speak on arrival. Children are key actors in the process of their entire family’s integration. They are frequently called upon to bridge language and cultural gaps in understanding between members of the host community and their own families.
- Both teachers and the child/ren’s families have roles to play in ensuring the success of students from migrant backgrounds at school•
The MiFamily approach presents a solution:
-
for professionals – an opportunity to involve migrant parents in the ‘formal’ education of their children;
-
for migrant families – a means of being better equipped to support their children’s progress through the host country’s education system, thanks to the innovative approach of the family learning process
Funded by the Erasmus plus programme of the European Commission and in partnership with the University of Westminster the conference is free to educators, ESOL teachers, Parent Ambassadors, Refugee Community Organisations and Supplementary Schools.
