YLN Education and Safeguarding Conference

PROGRAMME FOR THE SAFEGUARDING EVENT AT THE GOOSE GREEN COMMUNITY CENTRE – SATURDAY 22^nd FEBRUARY 2020 FROM 12.30 – 16.00.

Arrivals from 12.30 – 13.00 – Registration.

13.00pm – Welcome and introductions, Kwame Ocloo, Executive Director for the YLN, Kevin Dykes of Southwark Council, Pascale Vassie of the National Resource Centre, Cara Jones, Southwark Council, and Step Up to Social Work students from Goldsmiths University.

13.10pm – 13.30pm.  Help for parents’ presentation, Ben Campbell, Southwark Lead Parenting Co-ordinator.

13.30pm – 14.20pm.  Responding to child exploitation as a parent, carer, or family member; presentation by Donya Lamrhari and Toyah Metcalfe of The Children’s Society.

14.20 – 14.30. Break & Refreshments.

14.30pm – 15.30pm.  WORKSHOPS.

We will ask participants to spend 20 minutes in each workshop, and then move on to the next one so that everyone gets the chance to learn about all the topics.

• Disrupting exploitation – what parents should know, The Children’s Society.
• No Place for Hate Crime, Kevin Dykes, the community safety team at Southwark Council.
• Mental health and keeping children safe by Olive Lewis, PET Southwark.

15.30pm – 16.00pm.  We all come back together for networking, and sharing ideas. facilitated by Kevin Dykes and Kwame Ocloo.
