Autumn at the British Museum

If you are interested in outreach visits from The British Museum, please contact Alice,
who can organise a trip to visit your school with objects from the Museum’s handling collection. Alice will also be organising teachers training around a learning resource created specifically for supplementary schools visiting museums and the opportunity for your schools to come and use the resource.

Unfortunately the community preview for the reopening of the Joseph E. Hotung Gallery of China and South Asia on Sunday the 5th of November at the British Museum has had to be postponed.

This permanent gallery has been closed for over a year to be redesigned to include a wider range of objects such as textiles and paintings to complement the existing items on show, such as sculpture in stone and bronze.

On the day we will have a workshop and art installation by the Mary Ward Centre and performances by the BAPS Swaminarayan Sunday School and SiShu Chinese School.

Please be aware that this is a preview of a permanent gallery and that many of the objects from the South Asia section might still not be on display by then. The gallery will open to the general public on the 10th of November and it is expected to be completed by January 2018.
