How to deliver quality supplementary education

The How to… guides have been extensively revised and redesigned into a manual

New NRCSE manual

The manual is closely mapped to the different Quality Framework standards and guides schools from Bronze through to Gold, even including a few aspirational tips for schools heading for Special Distinction. With 60 pages in full colour this is a unique reference book and practical guide for anyone involved in supplementary education.

How to deliver quality supplementary education supports those delivering supplementary education to children attending mainstream schools. It is an invaluable tool for Supplementary Schools, Complementary Schools, Saturday Schools, After School Projects, Homework Clubs, Madrassahs, Sunday Classes, Mother-tongue and Language Schools, Samstagschule, Arts & Culture Centres, Study Support Classes, and all forms of provision aimed at enhancing and developing the aspirations, academic achievement, self-confidence and resilliance of children and young people.

How to deliver quality supplementary education takes readers through the ten standards of the NRCSE’s Code of Practice to guide the development of a well-organised environment in which everyone can work comfortable and there are clear expectations of behviour that supports learning.

The manual has guidance both for individuals and groups wishing to start up educational provision. The manual is also a great tool for more established supplementary schools seeking recognition from parents, local authorities, funders and mainstream schools. Each chapter gives information on how to achieve the different levels of the Quality Framework for Supplementary Schools. In full-colour throughout the manual provides useful guidance and case studies from real organisations around the country. At the end of each chapter there are links to websites for further information and self-assessment questions to help you improve.

Copies are priced at £35 each (incl. p&p) and can be ordered from the online shop. We offer discounts for NRCSE members and bulk orders, please get in touch.

What Supplementary Schools tell about us

We commissioned NRC to develop a business plan, a training programme and to carry out consultations with service users of one of our subsidary organisation. Claire Arthur provided us excellent service in a professional manner and also helped us to raise £175,000 funding. I would recomend her both on professional and personal level to anyone who is considering to work with her.
