Tickets available for @BritishMuseum Supplementary Schools and Families Activity Weekend on 7th/8th March 2015.
The theme of the Activity weekend is Connecting Cultures through play and we have selected three galleries in the museum to explore ancient games and leisure activities through time and draw comparisons to present games and sporting activities today.
Here is a summary of the free, interactive activities that will be available:
• A treasure hunt activity to help students, teachers and families explore the museum and learn about games in different cultures
• A drop-in arts and crafts activity in the Great Court based on Ancient Egypt
• The Samsung Digital Discovery Centre in the museum will be providing a digital activity for schools to take part in
• A Chinese Supplementary School will be leading a workshop about Xiangqi, a traditional Chinese strategy game
• An interactive and multilingual storytelling performance based on the theme of games and play inspired by the Mesopotamia gallery (The story will be told in English and Arabic.)
There are also some places left to attend the free training session on Saturday 7th February for teachers and volunteers who would like additional support and guidance to plan their visit to the museum.
