Exploring maths in museums
Teacher training day
11 – 3pm
On Saturday 10 December at the Museum of London Docklands, the programme will be running a teacher training day all about how to teach maths in museums. Making maths part of the everyday is very important in order for students to do well and a museum is a perfect place to bring numeracy learning to life in fun and imaginative ways.
This half day training session will give teachers lots of hands-on examples of maths activities that can be led in museums as well as simple assessment techniques that can be used during a school trip or at school.
If you would like any more information, or would like to book an outreach visit or a place on the training please email Emma Taylor.

The 2016 STEAM theme
This year, The Big Draw invites event organisers and attendees to be inspired by its STEAM theme. The STEAM Powered Big Draw Festival 2016 is part of the charity’s campaign to give Arts subjects parity with Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, so that STEM becomes STEAM.
The Festival will showcase how drawing, in the broadest sense, underpins STEM subjects and professional practice across a spectrum of disciplines – from physics to architecture and digital technology to baking. Through interactive workshops, films and talks, we are keen to showcase examples of how arts, science, and digital technology are interconnected.
Further Information
This launch event at The Whitworth Museum, Manchester is free and open to the public. It is organised by The Big Draw in partnership with The Whitworth and is supported by Arts Council England.
