NRCSE Training Courses

The NRCSE can provide training anywhere in England. We have a programme of open training in London but we are happy to work with you to organise training to meet local need in your county or borough. We are often able to identify additional supplementary schools who would like to take part in a training course in your area and this can help lower the cost to the school/agency booking on-site training.

All of our courses are available for local authorities or clusters of schools to buy in. More information about our management and governance courses and teaching and learning courses, including details of additional OCN-accredited courses not included in our open training, is also available.

Costs

We have kept prices as low as possible and there are additional discounts for NRCSE member supplementary schools. Please note, full payment is required before the course to confirm your place.

• Fee for a place on a one-day course, including resources – £105 per person
• Discounted place for staff/volunteers/trustees at NRCSE member supplementary schools – £75 per person (with exception of First Aid courses priced £90 per day)
• Fee to book delivery of a course on your site – £450 per day / £225 half-day/bitesize
• Discounted fee for NRCSE member supplementary schools (depending on availability of trainers/travel costs) – £340 per day / £190 half-day/bitesize

Bookings

To secure your place, go to the training section in our online shop. We take online payment, as well as cheque or bank transfer. (If you prefer to book via mail, you can download the booking form). You will receive an email to confirm your booking and details of the venue. If you do not receive an email, please call 020 7697 4027 to check that we’ve received your booking.

We can only run our open training courses with a minimum number of participants. If we do not meet the minimum of eight participants we will have to postpone or cancel the course. You will receive an email 48 hours prior to the course to confirm it is going ahead.

All courses run from 10am to 3.30pm (except for Introduction to the Quality Framework).

New training

In the past, the majority of training has been aimed at the management of supplementary schools.

We have developed a new 3-day course for management committee members and teachers to take together. Further information is available here.

In recognition of the changing funding climate we recognise that many supplementary schools are run primarily by the teaching staff and that there is a need for health & safety, child protection training that acknowledges this need, we also recognise that teachers are keen to access nationally recognised accreditation to support their own career development. We have accordingly developed a modular qualification registered with Ofqual and aimed at (unqualified/non UK qualified) teachers.

Mentor training

To become fully accredited a mentor must complete two training days and demonstrate the support they have given to at least one supplementary school at Bronze level. Mentors who have worked in schools and local authorities and those who have experience of the learning environment, classroom management, and teaching and learning are encouraged to become fully accredited.
