My name is Arifa Malik and my Supplementary School is called myDeen Foundation. I also work for IntoUniversity, an award-winning education organisation working with young people from all backgrounds, to help them attain a university place. We provide free information and advice to help students make informed choices about Higher Education and to set realistic goals for their future.
Following confirmation of funding from the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, IntoUniversity is to run a 3-year project specifically to support Supplementary Schools, in providing specialist advice to students who could progress to Higher Education. We will work to provide training and advice to Supplementary Schools, like yours and raise awareness of your schools among universities, as well as delivering training to targeted schools and establishing an online information service accessible to all Supplementary Schools across the UK.
If you want your Supplementary School to have access to:
- An online Higher Education information service, available to staff, parents and students
- Higher Education workshops delivered by specialist IntoUniversity staff on GCSE and A Level options, as well as the UCAS application process
A direct partnership with a local university (subject to criteria)
If you want your students to receive guidance in:
- Their actual school homework (by enrolling at one of our 18 nationwide centres, subject to availability)
- Finding the university and course that is right for them
- Writing an effective Personal Statement for their university application
Then – register your interest in our Supplementary Schools Project here and we will be in touch with more details.
As a supplementary school teacher I am aware of all the things we wish to help our students with, but just do not have the time or expertise to address. There is a clear distinction between the work supplementary schools do and the focus of IntoUniversity. I believe that there is compatibility between these different focuses and by coming together, we can fulfil our common goal of giving all our students all the information they need to choose the career path that best suits them. Watch this video – Ayisha video to see the practical steps IntoUniversity took to guide one young student to achieve her dream of becoming a lawyer.
I would love to hear from you to discuss all the possibilities further. I can be contacted on the phone number below or via email on arifa.malik@intouniversity.org. I look forward to working with you soon.
